Lol yasssssss. We can’t blame them, though. That was what they were told to do and like my mom’s generation had zero mitigating voices. I grew up with feminism and there I was! Lol these forces are so strong. And it is hard, as you point our, to know the difference between the faith in another person and the vulnerability we have to engage with in order to love and good old codependence simply because they are presented to us as the same thing in so many of our cultural narratives. In what romance pre-2015 does anyone say “sort yourself out and find me, sir.” I’m seeing big changes though. Which is exciting.
